Payment Policies
Please read all of Rice Tutors’ payment policies. If you have any questions, contact us—we are happy to assist you.
Payment Submission The office processes all payments; please do not give payments to tutors. At the time of signing up for tutoring, valid credit card information and an email address must be provided. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. All credit cards are processed for the current balance on the first and fifteenth of every month. You will receive a payment confirmation email to save as your receipt. If the transaction is declined and the office is not able to resolve it on the day of processing or the following business day, finance charges will be assessed for late payment.
Cancellations Twenty-four (24) hours’ advance notice is required for cancellations. Without it, the regular fee applies. Our tutors’ time is valuable; they lead full, busy lives just like you. Your timely cancellation will also allow another student requiring help the opportunity to meet with a tutor. If you need to cancel a session, please call the tutor directly at least twenty-four (24) hours before the scheduled session. We understand that sometimes unexpected events occur; as a courtesy, Rice Tutors discounts the first cancellation made less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance to half the normal fee.
One-Hour Minimum There is a one-hour minimum charge for each session. If the tutor is asked to stay less than an hour, the session will count as one hour. Sessions lasting longer than one hour are rounded to the nearest fifteen minutes.
Gifts & Tips We are thrilled when you are pleased with your tutor and would like to express your appreciation with a gift. However, monetary gifts of any kind (including but not limited to checks, money orders, and gift cards) are unacceptable. Giving tutors any sort of monetary compensation is against Rice Tutors’ policies and tutors who accept such gifts are in violation of their agreement with Rice Tutors.
